Steps to becoming an adoptive parent

Step 8: Meeting and moving the child to your care

The plan for this process will take account of the age and needs of the child, the current foster carer and their family circumstances and your circumstances.

Arrangements will be made for you to get to know the child's carers and the child before the plan progresses to you visiting the child in their current home to learn more about their likes, dislikes, routine and needs and then the child will be introduced to your home environment.

There will be meetings throughout the planning process to reflect on the progress of the plan and changes will be made as required.
