Steps to becoming an adoptive parent
Step 4: Prospective Adopters Report - Scotland
This is a full assessment that considers, you and the experiences and people that have made you who you are, your personal qualities, strengths, and vulnerabilities. It explores your experience, capacity, and suitability to parent. It details the needs of children and what you consider within your capacity to manage.
A full medical assessment with your GP and both personal and employer referees are required.
The assessing social worker will share their assessment of you routinely with their manager. On completion of the report the manager will meet with you and add their comments to the report. The report will conclude with a recommendation that will be presented to a panel.
