Types of foster care
Permanent foster care
When it’s decided a child cannot return home, we look for a permanent home for them. The child might stay with their foster carer or move to permanent foster care or adopters.
Permanent foster care offers children a safe, stable and secure environment for the rest of their childhood and beyond.
The difference between permanent fostering and adoption is the role permanent foster carers often play in maintaining and supporting important connections with the people important to the young person. When you permanently care for a child, you also share legal rights and responsibilities for the child with us.
