Thanks for supporting our fostering campaign Kiri!

Foster team with Kiri at her comedy show

As part of Foster with Edinburgh’s promotional programme of activities aimed at recruiting new foster carers, the foster team recently attended a performance of Kiri Pritchard-McLean’s comedy show.

At the invitation of the comedian, an approved foster carer, the team came along to her Edinburgh show at the Monkey Barrel. This is Kiri’s fourth and largest stand-up tour to date and, as a foster carer, she wants to raise awareness of the positive difference foster carers make to children’s lives.

Kiri said:

"I would encourage everyone to consider the idea of fostering with your local authority. We have more children than ever that need fun, loving and kind people in their lives and you could be just that for a brilliant young person."

Foster with Edinburgh recruitment lead Sharon Burn said:

“Kiri wanted to support The City of Edinburgh Council’s foster care recruitment campaign and she’s delighted to hear we will use pictures from the evening in our future fostering campaigns. It was a great night, and we were fortunate to meet a variety of people with an interest in fostering at the event. A couple who are already foster carers with Glasgow commented on how pleased they were to see our advert featuring teenage foster children and another couple shared their positive experience of being  foster carers with Edinburgh for over 20 years.”

“A limited number of discounted tickets were made available to our foster carers in advance, and at the end of her show, Kiri encouraged anyone in the audience interested in fostering to come over and chat to the foster team.  A number of people took away our information leaflets which was great. We’d also like to say a big thank you to the venue as they also asked for a supply of information leaflets for their customers.”

The team use a range of marketing activities to recruit new foster carers including advertising campaigns on TV, radio and online alongside regular drop-ins and pop-up events at John Lewis, Edinburgh Leisure and Asda.

If you or anyone you know is interested in fostering, please have a look at our website to find out more.
